    Networking Happy Hour & Tech-Tidbits: Wearable Technologies - Fashionable, Functional, or Both?     

                                                                                                       For just $20.00, NWCT is offering a night of networking, Tech-Tidbits, and hors d'oeuvres. Mix, mingle, and munch with others in the Technology field. And show us your Wearable Technology!

If it's a watch, fitness wristband, glasses, e-textile, smart fabrics, or jewelry...we want to see the technology that you're wearing. We'll also discuss current and future wearable technology trends.                    

The evening will be facilitated by Kim Kusumoto & Alice Sherlock from NWCT's Technology Committee.

Thank you to everyone who attended our March event! Special thanks to Amy Dinning for joining us as our featured speaker.

It was a fun interactive night of  networking - in new ways! And it was great to getting to know NWCT colleagues even better.

NWCT’s Mentoring Program is on its way!

On Thursday, November 20, NWCT held the NWCT Mentoring Program Kick off meeting. We are fortunate to have Yvonne Cook, Louise O'Donnell, and Eloise Young as our mentors this year. These women are respected IT leaders that are committed to sharing their knowledge and experiences through mentoring. Yvonne, Louise, and Eloise are mentoring the 9 mentees selected from the 22 NWCT and Girls Develop It (GDI) mentee applications we received. Each mentor will meet as a group with their 3 mentees over the next few months. In addition to a very positive kick off meeting, we had several of the GDI women signed up to become NWCT members!

We still have more work to do and the NWCT’s Mentoring Committee will be here to support all the mentors and mentees during the remainder of the program but I would be remiss if I did not thank Paula D’Imperio, Marissa Phleps, Amy Maleick and Liz Smith of the Mentoring Committee for their time, dedication and effort that they have put into the program and making the kick off meeting a success. Additional thanks to Experis IT for hosting and providing refreshments for the meeting.

Thank you to all mentors and mentees for attending the kick off meeting and to making this a great start to this year’s program!

Nichelle majors in Computer Science at LaSalle.

In addition to studying, Nichelle works several jobs, volunteers at an AIDs outreach program, tutors, and participates in student organizations.
